Scribus

If you are looking for Scribus, you have come to the right place. We explain what Scribus is and point you to the official download.

What is Scribus?

Scribus is a cross-platform software program from the Scribus Team that enables users to design page layouts for publications. Users are given the option to create a new document using a blank page, or utilize any of the pre-loaded templates that are categorized according to their type of publication such as brochure and newsletter.

The software supports .txt, .html and .sxw for importing text files onto the document. Users can open these documents from the Scribus interface and the file will be imported onto the layout. Word files may also be copy-pasted onto the blank document.

Images can be inserted onto the layout, with the program supporting a number of image formats: JPEG, GIF, PNG and PSD. The user can insert and edit text frames, include image frames and correct texts through the text editor. The completed project can be exported in PDF or PostScript format.

Scribus - Open Source Desktop Publishing is free software offered under the GNU General Public License. It is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, OS2 and eComStation.
