What is Remark Office OMR?
Gravic’s Remark Office OMR software is used for automated forms processing. OMR refers to optical mark recognition, a technology that allows computers to recognize certain marks on a document and process them as specified. For instance, using Remark Office OMR, it is possible to have your computer tally the answers to a particular form or checkbox-style multiple-choice test sheet—you will no longer have to check each individual document to see what boxes were marked for every item so that you can input the data manually.
Often used in educational, research, and government form processing, OMR applications of this type are doubly valuable as they preclude the need for dedicated OMR hardware: in fact, Remark Office OMR can work with a regular image scanner. It is capable of recognizing forms made on paper using different types of writing instruments, from pencils to pens, and can generate figures based off the data it has collected. For example, survey statistics can be gleaned through the program after feeding it with sufficient forms for a sample, and users can export those statistics and other data in a wide variety of formats, from Excel to CSV
