What is Player for AVCHD?

AVCHD is a digital video camera high definition recorder format that can record efficient 1080, 720, 60p and 50p scanning signals and 3D to a certain type of media using efficient codec. It is a joint establishment by Sony Corporation and Panasonic, a Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. brand. Various electronic, computer and other multimedia companies support AVCHD format. The new trademarks for this format include AVCHD Progressive, AVCHD 3D and AVCHD 3D/Progressive.

For recording media such as 8cm DVD media, SD Memory Card, Built-in Media and Memory Stick, the compression technology is MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. 1080 60i/50i/24p video signals have 1920x1080/1440x1080 horizontal x vertical pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio, 74.25 MHz and 55.7 MHz luminance sampling frequencies, 4:2:0 sampling structure and 8bit luminance/color contrast. 720 60p/50p/24p have 1280x720 horizontal x vertical pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio, 74.25 luminance sampling frequency, 4:2:0 sampling structure and 8bit luminance/color contrast. 480/60i video signal has , 720x480 horizontal x vertical pixels, 4:3/16:9 aspect ratios, 13.5 MHz luminance sampling frequency and 8bit luminance/color contrast. 576/50i video signal has horizontal x vertical pixels at 720x576, aspect ratios at 4:3 and 16:9, 4:2:0 sampling structure and 8bit luminance/color contrast.

The recording media above can use Dolby Digital AC-3 compression technology for audio with 64-640kbps bit rate after compression, 1-5.1 audio channels, linear PCM codec, 1.5mbps [2 channels] bit rate 1-7.1 audio channels, MPEG-2 Transport Stream system and 24mbps or less system bit rate or 18mbps or less for DVD.

AVCHD 3D trademark cover products that support stereoscopic video playback and recording using multi-view video coding to encode videos. AVCHD Progressive includes products that support video playback and recording with 50p/59.94p images per second and 1080 image scanning lines. AVCHD 3D/Progressive supports products with both progressive and 3D video playback and recording. AVCHD Lite supports products with AVCHD standards and AVCHD-compliant video cameras with license.
