What is Pepakura Designer?

Pepakura Designer is a program that allows users to map out papercraft designs and print out the results for assembly of the 3D paper model. As an example, users who want to create a 3-dimensional cube out of folded and glued cardboard can enter a 3D visual of a cube into the software: the program will then automatically calculate the shape of the cardboard needed to create the cube and present it to the user as an image with the cut and fold lines. The automation requires some assistance when complex forms (such as 3D cars) are submitted, although it still does perform part of the work itself. It can also specify the join numbers of the various edges in order to make it easier for users to fold and glue edges after printing and cutting the design.

The program is capable of importing files from other programs for easier 3D design mapping: OBJ, DAE, STL, KMZ, KML, DXF, 3DS, MQO and LWO files are all supported by the software. It also permits the addition of textures to colored sides and allows users to create designs that involve multiple pages (in printouts).
