What is OpenProj?
OpenProj is a cross-platform, open source project management program. The software provides the user with various tools for scheduling and monitoring projects. It includes a scheduling system where the user is able to monitor the overall progress of the project. The system provides a project manager with a set of tools that allows for breaking down the processes necessary to complete the project, specifying dates for completion of each task, and assigning resources. It also includes a costing utility, which enables the user to determine project cost; covering all aspects of the project, including materials or resources, and labor.
The program provides interoperability support for Gantt Chart, which is a program that provides the user with a bar chart that they can use for project scheduling; PERT (Project Evaluation and Review Technique) graph, a statistical analysis tool that allows for studying tasks and activities involved with the completion of the project; and Microsoft Project, software that also functions as a project management program. Other features of the program are utilities for breaking down resources and tasks, to enable the user to present these factors in smaller components for better analysis.
