Notation Player

If you are looking for Notation Player, you have come to the right place. We explain what Notation Player is and point you to the official download.

What is Notation Player?

The Notation Player is a program that transcribes MIDI audio tracks into playable musical notation. This allows the user to use the resulting transcription as sheet music for instrumental practice: users can also print out the transcriptions in the format they prefer, whether in traditional two-page score style or some other layout.

Notation Player is actually part of the Notation series of software and is the only free option among them. As such, it has the fewest features. It can transcribe and display sheet music for MIDI files, as already mentioned, and can do the same for NOT and KAR extension files. It is capable of displaying the notes on-screen and synchronizing them with the actual audio that was transcribed to show real-time notation. It has printing capabilities and can add clef symbols as well as key signatures. Since it is a player as well as a note-transcriber, it also has controls for audio playback like volume control and buttons for skipping forward/backwards within tracks. Its two premium-version siblings, Musician and Composer, nevertheless have more features, such as options for score annotation, MIDI recording, and more.
