What is MessageViewer Lite?
MessageViewerLite is a message viewer for opening .eml and .msg email files. These .msg files are made by Outlook and other apps, or .emi files which are produced by Lotus Notes, Groupwise, Thunderbird, Outlook Express, and Windows Mail. It is made for people who want to click on an .msg, .eml, or winmail.dat TNEF file and have it opened. A lot of instances with Message Viewer Lite can be run, allowing users to work with different emails simultaneously. It can read both .eml and .msg files, and show them in their original formatting. This includes HTML, Rich Text (including OLE objects), and Plain Text. This program is installed as the default Windows app for .eml and .msg files. Once it has been installed, users can open the .msg or .eml file by clicking on it.
Users will also be able to extract and save any file attachments that were contained in the email. They can do this by right clicking on the attachment, then saving it to their disks. This attachment can also be clicked, and then “drag and dropped” to their desktops. MessageViewerLite can be embedded inside the user’s application as an email content manager. It can also be used in mitigations towards or away from Groupwise, Outlook, and LotusNotes.
