LDView

If you are looking for LDView, you have come to the right place. We explain what LDView is and point you to the official download.

What is LDView?

LDView is a viewer capable of opening and displaying models designed with LDraw: that is, it can open DAT as well as MPD files. Obviously, as a viewer, it does not focus on file editing or creation. However, it does offer some dynamic viewing capabilities. For instance, a user can view an LDraw model from just about any angle, with the program also supporting cutaway views that function much like cross-section views. This allows in-depth exploration and analysis of LDraw models without any fear of compromising the original file during the viewing.

The program can download LDraw parts from the Web and is also able to create a parts list based on the LDraw model being viewed. It is capable of showing transparent models through alpha blending and also comes equipped with a highlight option that brings models even closer to photorealism. It has smooth shading abilities for curves, can perform high-res printing of the model from any angle, and also has the ability to take snapshots of models and save them as PNG/BMP files. It also supports stereoscopic viewing based on the “cross-eyed” stereoscopic viewing style.
