What is JLIP Video Capture?

The JLIP Video Capture utility is an application that allows users to capture images (actual screenshots) from videos. It requires the device serving as the video source to be connected to one of the user’s COM ports. When running the program, users can actually operate the source device using the DV Controller icons from the utility on their computer screens—in fact, the software sometimes fails when the user operates the source device using its own controls.

Captured images from a video are sent directly to the user’s computer, and he can choose where to save them. It is also possible for users to take multiple shots, and then save them all in bulk as an album on their PCs: the images can be saved as DVFs, JPGs or BMPs. The utility is able to capture even widescreen images in their native resolution and aspect ratio (although users can choose to squeeze this into a different aspect ratio). Finally, the software is capable of performing automated video snapshots using an interval timing method. It ceases snapping images from the source once the indexed number of photos reaches 99 or the video ends.
