If you are looking for IBM Lotus Approach, you have come to the right place. We explain what IBM Lotus Approach is and point you to the official download.
What is IBM Lotus Approach?
IBM Lotus Approach is a DBMS program packed in the Lotus SmartSuite software. As a database management system, it can be used to create, update, and administer databases, among other things. It was one of the first programs of its type to make use of a relational model in data organization. The relational model allows users to join multiple databases for improved data organization, reducing data complexity. The model was considered so effective, in fact, that the original developers at the Approach garnered several awards for the software and its perceived efficiency before selling the product to Lotus. Lotus was later taken over by IBM, hence the present branding.
IBM Lotus Approach is a Windows program and is generally used to manage business databases. It is capable of working with most database formats and has its own reporting tools. Furthermore, Approach is notable for storing information in a separate location from its actual display: this is part of the reason it can handle practically every database format and can open databases without altering their formats, whether they are in IBM DB2, dBASE IV, or some other format.
