What is Help & Manual?
Help & Manual publishes all standard Windows help formats, from HTML Help to Webhelp, to Visual Studio Help. It also generates Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word files, and ePub e-books, which is the standard format that is supported by the Apple iPad. Windows HTML Help is the platform-specific format for Windows applications. Help & Manual also create CHM files, as well as MSHC, which is a special help format for integration into Microsoft Visual Studio. The Webhelp publishing format includes a table of contents, keyword index, as well as a full search.
Webhelp is context-sensitive and allows seamless integration into the user’s website. Webhelp’s output format can be highly customized, and it also supports jQuery plug-ins for animations of non-static content. PDF output and print manuals are also fully customizable with the bundled Print Manual Designer program. This includes a table of contents and a keyword index. It also has automatic pages that refer to links and cross-references, customized page layouts, headers, footers, page numbering, covers, and introductions. Help & Manual also publishes the standard ePub e-book format which is optimized for the iPad, iPhone, Nook Reader, and other e-reading devices.
