What is femm Application?

The FEMM Application is a program intended to provide users with a tool for the solution of two-dimensional asymmetric and planar problems using the mathematic techniques under the Finite Element Method (hence the name’s first three letters). The program has a feature that allows users to select the problem type. For instance, a user can select Axisymmetric or Magnetic problem types as the starting point. It also has automated wizards that help users along, such as the Open Boundary Builder (for open boundary problems, of course), which is capable of suggesting boundary parameters to users. The Boundary Builder then creates the geometric visualization according to the specified parameters, sparing the user manual drawing operations.

Users can employ FEMM to draw models with nodes, arcs and more elements; to analyze specific problems; to plot and inspect field values; to calculate figures for aspects such as resistance and induction ability; and more. The program is free for anyone to use. While it cannot be resold and any part of its source cannot be repackaged for resale, its actual usage as a tool is unrestricted by the developer.
