What is Exceed?

Exceed is a PC X server created by Hummingbird. It designed for Windows XP operating system but can also run on Windows 2000.

The shareware allows users to cost-efficiently connect Microsoft Windows to several X Windows which have enabled servers. Also, Exceed allows users to access high-end X applications.

It appears that this software is popular among users because of its user-friendliness, stability, and performance. For its distinct features, it includes HostExplorer and Open Text Secure Shell. The former is Exceed’s integrated terminal emulation while the latter takes care of the optional security system.

Among the versions of Eceed, Exceed 8 exudes various features quite different form the other versions. It possesses an improved remote management console that uses the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) interface. In addition, Exceed 8 allows users to launch several copies of Exceed through the enhanced multiple instances support. Also, support for multiple network adapters and VON clients, “per user” installation to permit individual and personalized information, and support for Terminal Server and Critix environment as well as software upgrading and migration are all enhanced. Finally, this new version has a redesigned local management console user interface that uses a modem Windows XP style framework.
