DraftSight is a free CAD file viewer and editor from Dassault Systemes. It can also be utilized to create CAD files. The program is able to open DWG and DXF files, including legacy files that were created by old CAD software. The program utilizes the Teigha development platform for opening DWG and DXF files. Teigha is a C++ development platform that provides support for CAD DWG and DXF formats.
The program allows the user to view 2D designs in 3D mode, enabling them to view depth and position of the designs from all angles. The user can rotate, pan or zoom the designs; work on different layers through the Layer Manager, and allows for switching between layers. The program likewise allows the user to switch between 3D navigation and 2D view. Files can be exported to PDF format, or to an image file (TIFF, BMP, SVG, JPG, SLD, PNG or EMF), or eDrawing file. In addition, the program allows for command-line input.
DraftSight is available in Windows, Linux and Mac versions.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files DraftSight can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
