What is caseCATalyst4?
The caseCATalyst4 software from Stenograph is one of the company’s solutions for transcript-making. Case CATalyst actually comes in at least 4 flavors, with use-specific editions. These are the Professional version, the Scopist or Editor version, the Student version, and the Broadcast Captioning version. Of these, the last is the most expensive, and the Student version the least costly.
The caseCATalyst4 software has a number of features that ease the transcript or input-to-document process. For instance, it has a number of expanded Windows conventions, improved case management compared to caseCATalyst v.03, and a number of “smart” functions. It has undo as well as undo global controls and the ability to perform intuitive replacement. It also sports spell checking features, a smart transcript layout, and AudioSync capabilities.
The software also adds a slew of features to the package that were not available in earlier versions of the program. It has a concordance index feature, the ability to load ASCII files, the ability to load Premier Power files, and the ability to export elan Mira dictionaries. It also has an option for Smart Quotes, as well as options for selecting the speed at which audio is played back.
