What is Business Objects?

SAP Business Objects is an enterprise software company. It specializes in business intelligence. Business Objects was acquired in 2007, by SAP AG. Their flagship product is the Business Objects XI, with components that give performance management, planning, reporting, query, analysis, and enterprise information management. Business Objects also offers consulting and education services, to help customers deploy its business intelligence projects. Other tool sets enable universes and written reports to be stored centrally and mode selectively available to users.

Business Objects’ products include common services for deployment and management of BI tools, query and analysis tools for self-service reporting. This includes Lumira, a desktop-based client, originally called Visual Intelligence, and Webl. Enterprise Reporting can access, format, and deliver printable information to large populations of users. Data Visualization supports creation of flash dashboards, charts, and graphics with data from BO universes, SQL databases, or spreadsheets from Microsoft Excel. Enterprise Information Management integrates data to create a foundation that can be used for business decisions. It also creates a business for querying and analysis through ETL or EII.
