What is a ZIX file?
A .ZIX file is a WinZix compressed archive file.
Files with the .zix extension are most commonly associated with the WinZix file archiving application.
WinZix is used to compress large batches of files into a single compressed file archive. These files are saved with the .zix file extension.
Some say that the ZIX format is a hoax and only used to make people download and install WinZix, which contained spyware/malware.
How to open ZIX files
Important: Different programs may use files with the ZIX file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your ZIX file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
