What is a YZ1 file?

A .YZ1 file is a Yamazaki Zipper Compressed Archive file.

The Yamazaki Zipper Compressed Archive with extension .yz1 is a proprietary archive format created by the DeepFreezer (also written Deep Freezer or Yamazaki DeepFreezer) utility written by Yamazaki Satoshi. It bundles one or more files into a single compressed archive, offering compression and optional password protection. YZ1 files are the default archive format of DeepFreezer, used for saving backups or collections of files in a compressed form.

DeepFreezer writes YZ1 files; other programs like IZArc, ZipGenius, QuickZip, ZipZag and DeepFreezer itself can read or extract them. DeepFreezer and those compatible programs allow users to compress, password-protect, and unpack YZ1 archives under Windows.

YZ1 archives begin with a two-byte signature "yz" at offset zero.
