What are XFS files and how to open them

What is an XFS file?
XFS files have multiple uses, and Gunbound game data is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Gunbound game data
The Gunbound computer game most commonly uses the .xfs file extension. The XFS files contain game files referenced by the Gunbound application during a user's gameplay experience.
How to open XFS files
Important: Different programs may use files with the XFS file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your XFS file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While Gunbound game data is a popular type of XFS-file, we know of 3 different uses of the .XFS file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
Apocalyptica game data
Certain XFS files are game data files belonging to Apocalyptica, a game published by Konami.
Sorenson Squeeze Filter
We know that one XFS format is Sorenson Squeeze Filter. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
