What is a WIDGET file?
A widget is a small application that enables users to keep the tools they use the most directly on their desktop or attach the tool to a browser or other application. Widget applications can include clocks, calculators, calendars, news tickers and other convenient computer tools.
The .widget file extension is primarily used by the Yahoo! Widget Engine. In order to install the .widget files on a computer desktop the user must first download the Yahoo! Widget Engine. Once the engine is installed the user can select the widgets he or she prefers and install them onto their system.
In addition to being used for the Yahoo! Widget Engine, the .widget file extension is also used for widget files that are installed on many mobile devices.
