Opening VDM files

Did your computer fail to open a VDM file? We explain what VDM files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your VDM files.

What is a VDM file?

Files that contain the .vdm file extension contain program source code that is based on the Vienna Development Method. The Vienna Development Method was created for the development of computer-based systems at IBM's Vienna Laboratory. The VDM source code files are written in the VDM-SL language, also known as VDM++.

The Peps SolidCut CAD/CAM software program also uses the .vdm file suffix. These VDM files contain the graphics and/or machining files that have been created with the SolidCut Software program.

The Vedit software application has also been known to use the .vdm file suffix. These VDM files contain macro files that are created by the application.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
