Visual CertExam Simulator Exam
Visual CertExam Simulator Exam files are created by Avanset's Visual CertExam Suite and used to store interactive practice exams for preparing for IT certification tests. They contain the questions, answer choices, correct answers, timer settings, optional explanations, and any images or exhibits you might see during the simulated test. Viewers or testers use them with software like Visual CertExam Manager or VCE Exam Simulator to take or review exams. Designers use Visual CertExam Designer to build or edit these exam files.
These files are not human-readable - they are proprietary binary files. Each file bundles together all exam content so an entire exam is contained in one .VCE file. The main workflows are: design the exam in the Designer, save it as a .VCE file, and then open it for taking the exam or studying in the Manager or Simulator apps. The format is made so that exam questions are presented in a test-like environment, often with randomized question order, a countdown timer, and scoring built in. The files are used on Windows desktops and in mobile versions on Android and iOS.
As a technical identifier, many .VCE files begin with the two bytes 0x85A8 at offset 0.
