What are VCARD files and how to open them

What is a VCARD file?

The .vcard or more appropriately, the .vcf file extension is mostly linked to many personal management and e-mail programs like Microsoft Outlook. The .vcf or the vCard file format is a standard file format for storing contact information for a person or business that typically includes a name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and other contact information. Sometimes, it also supports custom fields, images, and other types of media. VCARD files is an electronic form of printed business card and structured in a more detailed manner.

VCARD files, which also can be used in email documents, are utilized in transfers of contents in programs or devices and their respective address books. VCARD Files are also in support in most current mobile devices like Andriod and iOS. The VCARD files can be created and edited by some apps, like vCardOrganizer, VCard Explorer, Open Contacts, also can be created and exported from Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Windows Contacts, Apple Address Book and iCloud, Gmail, Outlook.com services.

Windows Vista users can open vCards using the included Windows Contacts program. Mac OS X users can open vCards with the included contacts application. iPod and iPhone users can load vCards directly into the device's contacts app.

How to open VCARD files

Important: Different programs may use files with the VCARD file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your VCARD file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
