All known file formats using extension .TPX
While Oracle TPX Template is a popular type of TPX-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .TPX file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
Ulead Photo Express Template
Ulead Photo Express Template files with extension .TPX store editable project templates used in Ulead Photo Express for designing things like greeting cards, calendars, CD/DVD labels, posters and other creative photo layouts using preset layouts and placeholder elements.
These template files are created by Ulead Photo Express in Project mode; they include multiple components such as image placeholders, background images, decorative artwork, text objects, frames and other layout objects which can be customized later. Templates in Photo Express let you apply a preset layout, replace the placeholder images with your own photos, change text, adjust layers, apply effects to individual elements, and save the result either as a finished image or as another project file for further editing.
When saving in the .TPX format (as opposed to flat image formats), each object inside the template remains independent so that elements like frames, image placeholders, and text can be edited when reopening the template. Templates are grouped into categories (such as Stationery, Labels, Business Cards) and are accessed via the Get Project menu in Project mode. The user can customize layout, replace images, reposition and edit text, adjust transparency or effects, and adjust object layer order.
A technical signature that identifies this specific format is the presence of the Microsoft Compound File header bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1 at file offset 0, together with internal strings like "ROOT ENTRY", "OBJECT RESULT IMAGE", "U‐LEAD SYSTEMS", "JFIF" and entries marking image and mask objects such as "IMAGE OBJ‐0", "IMAGE OBJ‐1", etc., which indicate that the file stores both layout objects and embedded images in a compound storage structure.
