What is a TAX2009 file?
Files that contain the .tax2009 file extension are associated with the TurboTax tax preparation software that is distributed by Intuit. Turbo Tax is an American tax preparation software application. It was developed by Michael A. Chipman in the mid 1980's and was purchased by Intuit in 1993.
The TAX2009 files that are used by the TurboTax software contain the tax forms and data that was entered by a user when creating their tax return files during the 2009 tax season. The files that are stored with the .tax2009 file suffix only contain the Federal and State tax return information for the 2009 tax filing year. If a user wishes to access tax information for a different year, he or she must locate the file that corresponds with the relevant tax year.
