A .SBU file is a Samsung Backup file.

The .SBU file is a backup archive created by Samsung Kies, a desktop application made by Samsung Electronics. It is used when you choose to back up a Samsung phone or tablet's personal content to your computer. The file can include data such as contacts, messages, call logs, S Memo and S Planner notes, music, photos, and user preferences.

When you back up your device through Kies, the software saves all the selected items in a single .SBU file, usually under your Documents\Samsung\Kies\Backup folder on Windows. If something happens to your device - loss, damage, or switching to a new phone - you can use Kies' Restore function to transfer the contents back to the device.

Technical details of the .SBU format are not widely documented. It is known to be proprietary, not openly specified by Samsung, and no confirmed header signature or internal file structure has been published in official sources.
