What is a RBP file?

A .RBP file is a REALbasic/Xojo Project file.

The REALbasic/Xojo Project (.rbp) file is a binary project file used by Xojo (formerly REALbasic/Real Studio) to store an individual application's complete project in a single file. It captures all of the project items - windows, classes, modules, code methods, properties, user interface designs, menu definitions, and other structures - that make up an app. Users create and edit the project through the Xojo IDE and save it in this format so that everything needed to define the application is bundled together.

This .rbp file is produced by Xojo (or its predecessor Real Studio) when using its legacy binary project format. It is read by the same IDE for maintaining, compiling, and distributing applications. Although later versions of Xojo allow alternative formats such as XML or a text‐based version suitable for version control, the .rbp binary format is supported for backward compatibility and legacy project files. The file can be compiled into executable applications for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android or web deployment as defined by the project settings in the IDE.

Internally the file begins with a specific header signature: at offset zero it has the ASCII bytes "RbBF". This signature distinguishes the file as a REALbasic/Xojo Project in the binary .rbp format.
