Opening PST files

Did your computer fail to open a PST file? We explain what PST files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your PST files.

What is a PST file?

Files that contain the .pst file extension are email-related files that hold personal information that is used by the Outlook and Exchange programs that are distributed by Microsoft. These programs allow users to email using POP3 servers and manage personal and business communications.

The PST files are used to store information that pertains to the e-mail folders, addresses, contact information, email messages and other data that is saved within these applications. PST files only have a 2 GB file limit. When the PST file is nearing capacity, it will interfere with the performance of the Microsoft application that it is connected to.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
