What are PROP files and how to open them

What is a PROP file?

The .prop file extension is mostly associated with files that are used in the Google Android operating system that is installed on various smartphones and tablets. PROP files are settings files that store settings and information of a Google Android device.

The PROP file is an Android Build Properties file that contains information describing how your device is expected to behave. It is located in the "system" folder of your device. Editing the file can be done if the user wants to alter the device's behavior, including its Internet speed, LCD density, battery usage, and performance.

The file can be edited using programs such as, Root Explorer or ES File Explorer. These programs are designed to access the PROP file. Finally, the user may resume to edit a .prop file using a plain text editor, save the file, and then lastly reboot the device for the changes to take effect. Another program that offers the same editing features is the, Build Prop Editor, giving you access to edit, add, and view PROP files.

How to open PROP files

Important: Different programs may use files with the PROP file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your PROP file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
