POLICY File
What are POLICY files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a POLICY file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your POLICY files.
What is a POLICY file?
Files that contain the .policy file extension are most commonly used by the Java programming language. The Java programming language was first released by Sun Microsystems in 1995 and serves as the underlying technology for many games, websites, utilities and software applications.
When multiple Java programs run on a node in a Java virtual machine, they all share the same POLICY file. Java applications implement a number of POLICY files in order to handle application security.
The .policy file extension is also used for the policy files that are used for the Opera Web browser. The Opera browser can be used on computers, smart phones and other mobile devices.
How to open POLICY files
Important: Different programs may use files with the POLICY file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your POLICY file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
We have not yet verified any programs for Windows that work with this specific file format. If you know one, please use the 'Suggest a program' link below. Thanks!
