Opening OPJ files

Did your computer fail to open an OPJ file? We explain what OPJ files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your OPJ files.

What is an OPJ file?

The .opj file extension is normally associated with OrCAD PCB Designer. OPJ files normally contain printed circuit board projects that are used by electricians and mechanics to serve as a guide in installing or creating a wiring system for various electronic products and automobiles.

A printed circuit board, or PCB, is a thin plate on which chips and other electronic components are placed. It is the green board or card that holds the wiring components of the device. Computers consist one or more boards, often called cards or adapters. Cars also have PCB used to run and control their internal system. Manufacturers often use CAD- based software to design the PCB. These designs are frequently saved in .opj format.

OPJ file is a CAD project file created using OrCAD- a program used for designing PCB. It also saves references to files included in the project as well as specific project settings. Although, .opj files are saved in a plain text format, it’s modifications can only be done with the use of OrCAD software and not with Text Editor applications.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
