NES File
What are NES files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a NES file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your NES files.
What is a NES file?
A .NES file is a Nintendo ROM image file.
Files that contain the .nes file extension store ROM image copies of a game that was initially intended for play on the Nintendo NES gaming system.
The NES file contains the same information that the NES cartridge originally contained, but the NES file allows the associated game to be played on a computer using an emulation application.
NES files make it possible for users to play popular NES games on their computer without the need for an actual NES gaming system or the original NES game cartridge. The user must, however, have the proper emulation software installed on their computer.
