What is a N64 file?

Files that contain the .n64 file extension are ROM image files. These files contain a Nintendo 64 video game. The Nintendo 64 was a popular gaming system that Nintendo distributed in the late 1990s.

A file with the .n64 file suffix contains an exact copy of a Nintendo 64 game, exactly as the game was stored on the game's original cartridge. The Nintendo 64 ROM image files allow users to play a Nintendo 64 game on their computer using an emulator instead of using an actual Nintendo console.
