What are MGR files and how to open them

What is a MGR file?
MGR files have multiple uses, and Manager (MGR) Bitmap is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Manager (MGR) Bitmap
MGR bitmap is an image file format used by the Manager (MGR) windowing system, developed in 1984 for Sun workstations. Later the MGR window manager was also available for Apple Macintosh, Unix System V, Atari ST, Linux, FreeBSD, and more.
How to open MGR files
Important: Different programs may use files with the MGR file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your MGR file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
