LZ File
What are LZ files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a LZ file or just wondering what they contain? We explain what these files are used for and show you software that we know can open or otherwise handle your files.
What is a LZ file?
A .LZ file is a LZIP compressed archive file.
Files with file extension .lz are compressed files that have been created with the LZip compression tool.
LZip is a command-line tool like gzip or bzip2, unlike e.g. WinZip that has a nice graphical interface that makes it easier to use for novice users.
It uses the effective LZMA compression algorithm and is usually able to create smaller files than its gzip and bzip2 counterparts.
