What is a LRPLUGIN file?

A .LRPLUGIN file is an Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Plugin file.

Adobe Lightroom Classic creates files with the extension .lrplugin to let users add extra functionality to the program. These files are "plug-ins," small packages developed with Adobe's SDK that provide features Lightroom doesn't have by default, such as exporting to specific web services, adding metadata tools, or custom photo-processing tasks.

A .lrplugin file is authored by a plug-in developer using Lua scripts and metadata descriptors. The developer puts together multiple files - such as Info.lua and other supporting .lua code - inside a folder whose name ends in .lrplugin (or .lrdevplugin during testing). Lightroom Classic lets you install or remove these plug-ins via its Plug-in Manager, enabling or disabling them as needed.

Technically on macOS the .lrplugin folder is treated as a package so it looks like a single file in the Finder; on Windows it may also be packaged as a semi-binary bundle. The .lrplugin folder must include an Info.lua file that returns a table to describe the plug-in (for example its SDK version and identifier).
