LCK File
What are LCK files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a LCK file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your LCK files.
What is a LCK file?
A .LCK file is a Paradox Lock file.
Files that contain the .lck file extension are lock files that have been created by a variety of database software applications.
When a user has a shared database file open on his or her computer and another user tries to open that file, an LCK file will be automatically created. This file allows the second user to view the contents of the database but prevents them from making any changes. This prevents information in the database file from being accidentally overwritten or deleted.
Once the user has closed the LCK file, the file is normally deleted automatically by the software application. These files should not be opened by other software than the database program.
You usually do not need to edit or view these files, as they only contain information usable by the software program that uses them.
