The KSD file format was developed by KeepSafe as an encrypted file format, which can be used to hide files until users enter the correct pin code. Used by the KeepSafe Vault mobile application, these .ksd files are generated when users want to encrypt an image or video file in their mobile phones with the use of this app. The KeepSafe Vault application has versions for tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices that run on Android and iOS.This application converts images and video files into .ksd files upon the user's request to encrypt the files. Random file names are also generated and used for the encrypted files by the KeepSafe Vault app. Opening KSD files requires KeepSafe Vault to be installed in the mobile device.Another program that uses the KSD file format for an entirely different purpose is the Massive software, which was developed by Native Instruments. This is an audio generation and editing application for Windows desktops and laptops. The KSD file format is used by the Massive software for generating audio clips that have been created by the user through this program. Only the Massive program from Native Instruments can be used to open these .ksd files.
