What is an INSTALL_BACKUP file?
Files that contain the .install_backup file extension are most commonly used by the AVG anti-virus software application. AVG is a free and upgradable anti-virus software that can be used on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. The program was designed to protect a user's computer from viruses and other malware and spyware threats.
The AVG software application uses the .install_backup file extension for AVG shell extension module files. If something goes wrong with the installation process or the AVG installation, the .install_backup file can be used to restore the user's system. This file is normally saved under the name avgse.dll.install_backup.
