Opening GSHEET files

Did your computer fail to open a GSHEET file? We explain what GSHEET files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your GSHEET files.

What is a GSHEET file?

The .gsheet file extension is used for an Internet shortcut file format, which was developed by Google, Inc. for one of their Web applications and also for the Google Drive cloud service. Known as link to Google Sheets Web application spreadsheet documents, these GSHEET files point to a spreadsheet document that has been created using the Google Sheets document and stored in the Google Drive cloud storage service.

These GSHEET files are generated by the Google Drive cloud storage service when a spreadsheet document from Google Sheets is stored in Google Drive. Upon executing these .gsheet files, the Google Sheets Web application initializes and opens the corresponding spreadsheet document in Google Drive. This allows users to view and edit their spreadsheet documents in their Google Drive accounts through the Google Sheets Web application.

These .gsheet files can be opened with any compatible Web browser, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari among others. Double-clicking these GSHEET files will launch the default Web browser, which will in turn initialize the Google Sheets Web application.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
