What is a GSD file?
GSD files have multiple uses, and Generic Station Description is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Generic Station Description File
The .gsd file extension is used for a device configuration file format, which Panoramix Services developed. These GSD files are also known as Generic Station Description files and are used by the PROFINET Commander software.
These GSD files are encoded in XML format, and the data stored in a .gsd file includes hardware device profiles that can be imported to the PROFINET Commander software. This is a Windows application that is designed by Panoramix Services. This tool provides diagnostics and testing functions to IT administrators, network engineers and product development specialists.
This software is used for testing device I/O components and other relevant hardware tools that are connected to a PROFINET network.
