Windows Generic Printer Description File

Files that contain the .gpd file extension are most commonly used by Microsoft for Generic Printer Description files. The GPD files are used to create "Unidrv Minidrivers", which are text-based descriptions of the printers.

Each GPD file describes the detailed characteristics a specific printer from a specific manufacturer, and the generated "minidriver" enables Windows to use the printer based on the description in the file.

Each minidriver can contain one or more GPD files within it.
