What are FOL files and how to open them

What is a FOL file?

FOL files have multiple uses, and First Choice Database is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

First Choice Database File

Files that contain the .fol file extension are database files that have been created with the First Choice software by Personal Filing System. The First Choice software application was used in early versions of the Windows operating system to create flat-file databases.

These databases could store and query a variety of data types and could also generate reports for users to reference and distribute.

How to open FOL files

Important: Different programs may use files with the FOL file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your FOL file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

We know that one FOL format is Fold Compressed. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
