What is a FLM file?

FLM files have multiple uses, and Adobe FilmStrip is one of them.

Adobe FilmStrip

These FLM files contain the slides created in Adobe FilmStrip, a software used to display slides in the order in which they will appear when displayed. You can edit the slide order and the size.

How to open FLM files

Important: Different programs may use files with the FLM file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your FLM file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While Adobe FilmStrip is a popular type of FLM-file, we know of 7 different uses of the .FLM extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

Animatic Film

These FLM files contain the pictures displayed in a storyboard, pictures that are timed and cut together with a soundtrack. You can edit the storyboard during the Animatic phase, but that prevents the animation of scenes that would be edited out of the film.

Flasm disassembled Flash ActionScript bytecode

These FLM files contain the command lines used in Flasm, a free command-line assembler/disassembler of Flash ActionScript bytecode. Flasm allows you to make changes to SWF files, an Adobe Flash file format. These FLM files are used to optimize the content used in SWF files.

Stunt Island Film

These FLM files contain the film sets used in Stunt Island, a flight simulation video game for MS-DOS PCs released in 1992. These film sets consist of a city, an oil rig, a canyon, and an aircraft carrier. You can edit and move the positions of the cameras and props around the sets.
