What are DMK files and how to open them

What is a DMK file?
DMK files have multiple uses, and PERQ Disk Image is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
PERQ Disk Image
The .DMK file extension refers to PERQ Disk Image files, which are used to store exact copies of the contents of a disk for the Three Rivers PERQ computer. These files can be used to create data backups, distribute the contents of a disk over the internet, or preserve the contents of old or damaged disks.
How to open DMK files
Important: Different programs may use files with the DMK file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your DMK file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested two different DMK openers which you will find listed below.

While PERQ Disk Image is a popular type of DMK-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .DMK file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
TRS-80 DMK Disk Image
We know that one DMK format is TRS-80 DMK Disk Image. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
