CSAPLAN File
What are CSAPLAN files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a CSAPLAN file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CSAPLAN files.
What is a CSAPLAN file?
A .CSAPLAN file is a SPSS Analysis Plan file.
SPSS Analysis Plan files store the full settings of a "Complex Samples" analysis design made in IBM SPSS Statistics. They are produced when a user runs the Analysis Preparation Wizard (via Analyze → Complex Samples → Prepare for Analysis), choosing the option to save their design specifications so that later SPSS procedures for survey or complex sample data can use the design without re-entering all the setup.
An Analysis Plan file includes information such as how many sampling stages there are, what the stratification and clustering variables are, which variables carry weights, and which estimation method (for example, with or without replacement, probability proportional to size) to use. SPSS reads these files to apply sampling design correction (for standard errors, confidence intervals, and design effects) when running its Complex Samples procedures.
The file is written in XML format, under UTF-8 encoding, and includes tags like ANALYSISDESIGN, NUMBEROFSTAGES, VARIABLE NAME, WEIGHT, ESTIMATIONMETHOD, SPSSCOMPLEXSAMPLES VERSION and others.
