What are CRP files and how to open them

What is a CRP file?

A .CRP file is a Colossal Raw Asset Package file.

Colossal Raw Asset Package files store content for the game Cities: Skylines, developed by Colossal Order. These packages act as containers that encapsulate many kinds of game data - custom assets, save games, maps, themes, or color corrections - depending on where the file is saved.

Creation of these packages happens within Cities: Skylines itself - either when a user designs an asset in the Asset Editor (for example a building, prop, or road) or when creating maps, saves or applying color correction settings in-game. Once created, the files are used by the game to load the corresponding content. The naming, preview image, texture, and thumbnail settings for assets are prepared via the UI in the Asset creation tools and saved into these package files.

Files begin with a specific signature in the first four bytes: the ASCII characters CRAP.

How to open CRP files

Important: Different programs may use files with the CRP file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your CRP file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
