What is a CNC3REPLAY file?
A .CNC3REPLAY file is a Command And Conquer 3 Replay file.
Command And Conquer 3 Replay files record everything needed to replay a previously played match of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (or its related titles) by capturing game state changes, player actions, map used, players involved, and timing. They are not video files but instruction logs that the game engine re-simulates during playback. Game replays are saved automatically at the end of skirmish or multiplayer matches, and can also include commentary or telestrator annotations if those were used during the match.
These replays are produced by Command & Conquer 3 (Electronic Arts) when a match concludes or when the player explicitly saves a replay. They can be opened only within the game through its Replays menu, which restores the match using the instruction log stored in the file. Since the replay contains no pre-recorded video, playback quality depends on the user's hardware and the in-game camera settings during watching. Downloaded replays from other players can be imported into the game's Replays folder for viewing.
Replay files begin with a specific ASCII header string that identifies them uniquely. At the very start of the file the bytes spell out "C&C3 REPLAY HEADER" in ASCII.
