CL4 File
What are CL4 files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a CL4 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CL4 files.
What is a CL4 file?
A .CL4 file is an Easy CD Creator 4 Layout file.
Easy CD Creator 4 Layout files store a saved's project settings for burning a disc using Adaptec's Easy CD Creator version 4. They define what files and folders are to appear on the CD, how the disc's directory tree should be organized, any labels, audio track metadata, or recording options chosen in the layout dialogs. The layout file does not embed file data itself, only references to them.
These layout files are produced when a user builds a CD layout in Easy CD Creator 4's interface and then saves that layout via the File → Save (or Save As) command. Later, loading the layout re-creates the structure in the layout pane so the project can be edited or burned. The layout may include data CD structures, audio CD tracks, Mixed Mode or enhanced CD options, and settings for CD-Text, volume identifiers, and file order.
Internally the format is a Microsoft Compound File (OLE2 Structured Storage) container, as indicated by its signature header 0xD0CF11E0A1B11AE100 at byte offset 0. Structures inside it include directory entries such as "RootEntry" and streams named "Contents", "SessionsDescriptor", "CD_PLUS" among others, along with ASCII strings like "0090" and fragments like "IGHT" used to help identify contents.
