CD5 File
What are CD5 files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a CD5 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CD5 files.
What is a CD5 file?
A .CD5 file is a Chasys Draw IES Drawing file.
Chasys Draw IES Drawing (native Chasys Photo project format) is a working image file type created and used by Chasys Photo (formerly Chasys Draw IES), a Windows suite for editing raster graphics and producing frame-based animations. It saves full project data so that images, layers, path/text metadata, blending modes, partial transparency, multiple resolutions, and animation frames can be edited later.
Project files are written and saved by Chasys Photo. Images and animations worked on in that program are stored using this format while being edited, and may later be exported into more common image formats (JPEG, PNG, etc.) when needed. The format supports lossless compression, high-bit-depth color modes, free-style layers, multi-resolution editing, metadata including layer names and notes, animation in both frame-based and object modes, and full alpha-channel transparency.
The format is extensible and backward‐compatible. It has evolved through versions (for example v1 up through at least version 4), adding features such as layering, animation, multi‐resolution/mipmapping, high dynamic range support (though some newer parts are not yet in use), adaptive variable bit depth, embedded thumbnails, and large maximum image dimensions.
The file begins with the ASCII signature "_CD5" at offset zero, to identify it as a Chasys Photo project's drawing file.
